speaker faq & information
Do i need to buy a ticket to the event?
No - as a speaker, you’ve earned your place in our audience!
Am I allowed to bring guests?
We don’t mind if you bring someone to watch during your talk, but the main seats are meant for paying attendees. If your guest intends to stay for the whole event, they should buy a ticket.
Where should I stay?
We always have a designated room block at the same hotel where we hold the conference - you’ll find a link on the conference page. These rooms fill up quickly, so make sure to book early!
What format should presentations be in?
Your talk should be created in Keynote standard format, which is automatically applied when you open Keynote. Keynote presentations have a default resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio. Please do not make it in wide format! That will look terrible on the square screen.
We cannot accept presentations in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or PDF format. I just can’t do it, dudes. You all have seen me struggle with presentations on stage and I am over it.
Please ping me, call me, text me, send me a fax if you don’t know how to use Keynote or need help with the above specs. I will help you with your slides any day before October 1, 2019.
When are presentation slides due?
Your slides are due on September 20, 2024. We need time to review your images, text, and animations and add them to a master deck.
If you don't meet this deadline, we cannot promise that your slides will look centered, be in the correct format and size, be error-free, or have working animations like you intended. Please respect this deadline over anything, as it is intended to help you and your presentation look good.
pro tips on making great slides
When you create your Keynote file, make sure you choose set the page layout to WIDE FORMAT.
Light text on a dark background looks best and is easiest to see from the back of the room.
Your font size should be 45 point or higher
Use an easy-to-read font (ex. Ariel, Helvetica, Times New Roman). Cursive, handwritten fonts are not legible for the audience.
What do I do if I don’t have keynote?
Keynote can import PowerPoint and Sheets slides, but not PDFs, Word Docs, or anything not in a slide deck format. We will do anything we can to make sure your slides work and look awesome, so if you’re having serious anxiety about the format, just ping us and we’ll work on it together.
